Edenvale Shoppes Enters Into Relationship with ICRA to Further the Efforts of Providing a Safe Internet Experience

Green Bay, WI (PRWEB) July 5, 2007

Edenvale Shoppes announced today that it has entered into a relationship with ICRA to further the efforts of providing a safe internet experience.

“In addition to current measures such as Hacker Safe and Yahoo Secure Shopping that provide shopping and viewing security and reliability for our customers, we feel that users of the internet need the ability to determine what they are exposed to,” said Jesse Akre, President of Edenvale Shoppes. “The ability to label a site’s content as safe for viewing — void of any solicitations or materials that are considered offensive or vulgar, we feel is key at driving the continuous evolution of a save internet experience for all users, minor and adult. Leading internet safety advocate sites such as Netsmartz.org endorse the ICRA as a must have for internet content measurement and exposure.”

Internet safety is a growing concern. Recently, The FBI listed their top tips for child and teen internet safety.

There are some very important things that you need to keep in mind when you’re on your computer at home or at school.

First, remember never to give out personal information such as your name, home address, school name, or telephone number in a chat room or on bulletin boards. Also, never send a picture of yourself to someone you chat with on the computer without your parent’s permission.
Never write to someone who has made you feel uncomfortable or scared.
Do not meet someone or have them visit you without the permission of your parents.
Tell your parents right away if you read anything on the Internet that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Remember that people online may not be who they say they are. Someone who says that “she” is a “12-year-old girl” could really be an older man.

ICRA at a glance:

ICRA (formerly the Internet Content Rating Association) is part of the Family Online Safety Institute, an international, non-profit organization of internet leaders working to develop a safer internet. With a history stretching back to 1994, ICRA has long believed that self-regulation leads to the best balance between the free flow of digital content and protecting children from potentially harmful material.

The centerpiece of the organization is the descriptive vocabulary, often referred to as “the ICRA questionnaire.” Content providers check which of the elements in the questionnaire are present or absent from their websites. This then generates a small file containing the labels that is then linked to the content on one or more domains.

Users, especially parents of young children, can then use filtering software to allow or disallow access to web sites based on the information declared in the label. A key point is that ICRA does not rate internet content – the content providers do that, using the ICRA labeling system. ICRA makes no value judgment about sites.

The descriptive vocabulary was drawn up by an international panel and designed to be as neutral and objective as possible. It was revised in 2005 to enable easier application to a wide range of digital content, not just websites.

Most of the items in the questionnaire allow the content provider to declare simply that a particular type of content is present or absent. The subjective decision about whether to allow access to that content is then made by the parent.

New CAP-XX High-Temperature Supercapacitors Pack Pulse Power in a Thin, Environmentally-Robust Package: Higher-Boiling-Point Electrolyte Enables Long-Life 5.5-Volt Supercapacitors That Withstand -40 to + 85 Degrees C Temperatures

SYDNEY, Australia (PRWEB) September 10, 2007

The HS and HW supercapacitors feature a higher-boiling-point electrolyte that extends operating and storage temperature from 75 degrees C to an industry-leading 85 degrees C, and operating voltage (V) from 4.5V to 5.5V. These supercapacitors work reliably in devices where nearby components can get very hot, such as RF Power Amplifiers, which can reach 120 degrees C during transmission, as well as in devices which are exposed to environmental high temperatures, such as a mobile phone left on the dashboard of a car in direct sunlight, or in the engine compartment in an automotive application.

The new supercapacitors offer long-life performance at up to 2.75V in single-cell versions, and 5.5V in dual-cell versions with the two cells connected in series. All devices operate from -40 to +85 degrees C.

“These ruggedized supercapacitors support the most environmentally-demanding, power-hungry mobile phone applications,” said Anthony Kongats, CEO of CAP-XX. “The higher voltage enables high-power LED flash for better pictures, and can double audio power for richer-sounding music. The new high-temperature threshold assures reliability, even in a phone left in a car on a hot day.”

According to Stuart Robinson, director of handset component technologies for Strategy Analytics, “Consumers want their cellphones to be as good as their digital still cameras and produce clear pictures even in low light. We estimate that over the next three years high-powered LED flash in cellphones will grow at an annual average rate of 155%, and will be in over 70% of all camera phones by 2010. CAP-XX supercapacitors are a technology enabler for this market. We have seen them power multiple high-current LEDs to full light intensity, producing clear pictures in low light from up to 3 meters away. I expect their new higher-voltage models will make the results even better.”

Supercapacitors deliver 100x the power of batteries and store 10,000x more energy than conventional capacitors. They store electrical energy during periods of low-load power, and then release it in quick “bursts” during peak-power events, supplementing power from the source and smoothing out voltage fluctuations.

CAP-XX supercapacitors benefit from a unique nanotechnology construction which packs the highest energy and power densities into thin, lightweight, prismatic packages that will fit into slim portable devices. They store charge on nanoporous carbon electrodes on aluminum foil, arranged in multiple layers and connected in parallel to minimize the resistance and maximize the capacitance of the device.

The new HW series features a very small 28.5 x 17mm footprint and combines high capacitance (C up to 0.4 Farad at 5.5V) with low equivalent-series-resistance (ESR as low as 100 milliohm at 5.5V) in a thin (0.9 to 2.90mm) package. The HS series features a small 39 x 17mm footprint and combines high C (up to 0.7 Farad) with very low ESR (as low as 55 milliohm at 5.5V) in the same thin (0.9 to 2.90mm) package. The low-profile prismatic packages may be soldered or ultrasonic welded to pads on a PCB.

Pulse current for a single pulse is 20A, RMS current is 4A. The new supercapacitors have power densities as high as 71.5KW/litre and energy densities up to 5.5KJ/litre (or 1.5Wh/litre).

Applications of Supercapacitors:

CAP-XX’s High Temperature supercapacitors are suitable for many of the applications in which the company’s General Purpose (G Series) supercapacitors have been adopted, but which demand an increased environmental operating range and/or a higher voltage rating.

Typical applications have periodic pulsed loads which draw greater power than the voltage source (usually a battery or a current-limited power supply) can comfortably deliver:

— High-Power LED Flash for camera phones, PDAs and digital cameras

— High-Power Audio Amplifiers for mobile audio in cell phones and portable multimedia players

— GSM/GPRS/EDGE Modems in PCMCIA and CF cards, PCI Expresscards, and USB-attached devices

— Wireless Modems in devices powered by fuel cells, solar cells, wind, water, vibration, and other low-current energy-harvesting technologies

— Autofocus, Zoom lens and Motor drives in digital cameras

— Pulsed loads at low temperatures where batteries have difficulty delivering the required current

— Pulsed loads in devices powered by low-power, long-life batteries such as Lithium Thionyl Chloride. Examples include Automatic Meter Reading modules, Toll Tags/RFID Tags, Location Tracking Devices, Security Systems, M2M Wireless Sensor Networks, etc.

CAP-XX supercapacitors are found in devices such as the rugged handhelds, PDAs and Point-of-Sale systems from Banksys, Handheld Products, Intermec, Datalogic and Symbol Technologies, and in wireless modems produced by Sierra Wireless, Option, IP Wireless and Thetalogix.

Capitalize on Message Delivery With Custom Booklets

printing of business books is generally intended for two purposes. First, personalized booklets can be made for information awareness or training purposes and second, they can be used to advertise the product. Whatever the case though, the goal for the business booklet printing is to maximize the delivery of the message to everyone who needs it. They can either be your customers, your employees or even your investors. To ensure that you can give your message to each of them you have to be sure that your custom brochures are to the task. In this article, we will share with you five simple tips that can maximize your message delivery to everyone you need. Just follow the steps below.

1. Print small and mobile. To keep your mobile booklets and easy to distribute, the best way is to print small. Of course, this does not mean that you will print only type novena “super small” booklets. Not at all. It does not mean that it is better to print that is small enough to be mobile. People should be able to put in their pockets and they should have an easy time with reference to them and then store them again. For distributors brochures, secondly, they must have a time just as easy to give your booklets off by hand, by post or by various other means. With books that are small, people will not have a hard time wear. They should have no problem at all to pick up your book.

2 . Compose short and easy to understand the content. Also, your content can play a role to get as many people to read your message in your brochures. First of all, let’s say your book content is long and very technical. With this, there is a chance that people can hardly be motivated to read your book, so your message is not delivered. In fact, they may even get bored or frustrated by very lengthy content for something as small as a booklet. So always make sure you write your books with the shortest possible content. Be as concise as you can with your word and always use the most simple words you can use. This should leave your message is delivered better the greatest number of people.

3. Use only crucial images. Also to maximize the use of space, always try to use the most crucial images you want to book. You do not really need to complete your booklet with lots of pictures. Only images that should be understood fastest messages are needed. Otherwise, the others are just wasting space and steal time from your readers.

4. Printing cheap booklets. Now, to maximize the number of printed brochures that you can produce, you can print cheap booklets if you can. Cheap brochures are not only affordable; you can print them in large quantities at a cheaper price. This gives you the opportunity to be extended with your distribution, giving you the option to send your custom brochures for almost anyone you choose.

5. Distribute using different approaches. Of course, you can not just blindly distribute well. To maximize the potential distribution of your message, you have to try different approaches to reach different types of people. Thus, in addition to distributing your color brochures in hand, you can try to send them by mail, by including them in gift packages and leave them in public places for people to pick up. With this method, you should be able to reach as many people as you can maximize your sales potential.

So what are the tips to get your message read color booklet. If you are really passionate about getting your message across to people, then these are the steps to do so. Remember these tips and your message should be sent to as many people and in the best way possible.

A Greener Future for Outdoor Digital Signage

There are many advantages to using outdoor digital signage: Its engaging, flexible, versatile and dynamic allowing advertisements to be scheduled for key times and even multiple adverts displayed on a single space.

But despite these advantages are there are drawbacks to using outdoor screens for promotion and advertising, especially when it concerns the environment.

There is always an environmental cost with outdoor advertising; even static signs that have to be erected and replaced by technicians, who drive around in vans, have a carbon outlay.

Going Green

More and more businesses are becoming aware of the need to be a little more eco-friendly but there are good economical reasons for it too as well as environmental ones.

Saving energy often goes hand in hand with saving money so any outdoor digital signage that saves energy is more cost effective than a less green and more power hungry system.

The biggest power usage with an outdoor digital display is the backlight. Backlighting is used by LCD TVs to ensure brightness of the image – the brighter the backlight then the brighter the image; however, its not just outdoor digital signage that is reliant on backlighting as static signs used in outdoor locations are often back-lit too, to allow them to be seen at night.

LED Back-lit LCD TVs

Saving on backlighting is therefore one method of reducing the carbon footprint of an outdoor digital signage campaign.

There has been a growing trend of using LCD TVs that are back-lit by LEDs. These save a dramatic amount of power in comparison to the standard incandescent back light while providing just as much brightness – essential for outdoor digital signage applications.

But there is another method of ensuring the green credentials of your outdoor digital signage campaign and ensuring you save money too.

Screen life

Too frequent replacements of LCD displays also have environmental impacts. Not only are you burdening the world with an LCD device that has to be thrown away but the energy and resources that go into making a new TV adds to the environmental impact.

Ensuring the screen runs as long as possible is therefore not only a sure fire way of saving money but will ensure the green credentials of your campaign.

Ensuring the outdoor digital signage display is in a good quality LCD enclosure that not only protects from the elements but also ensures the optimum conditions inside the enclosure is one method of ensuring the maximum longevity of an LCD TV.
