Mipwr to Crowdfund iPhone Case that Allows Users to Charge the iPhone with Their Hands

Arlington Heights, IL (PRWEB) September 16, 2013

A discovery made almost 200 years ago, still lives today as a practical method of manufacturing electricity; electromagnetic induction. The all new Mipwr Dynamo iPhone case has taken this method of creating electricity, and applied it to technology that can power cellular devices when users need it most.

Mipwr Dynamo is a protective iPhone case, backup battery and hybrid charger all in one compact and sleek looking design. The case contains a 400 mA battery, along with a concealed push lever that, when pumped, generates electricity to charge the internal battery. For every one minute of actuating the push lever within the case, users will produce enough power for 30 seconds of talk time or text.

“After witnessing the aftermath of power outages from recent natural disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy and the cruise ship disasters, we thought about taking the existing technology of electromagnetic induction, and making it small enough to fit in the back of a cell phone case,” says Mipwr Dyanmo co-founder Karl Lee. “We thought, ‘how cool would it be to have an alternative energy source, besides a back up battery, that could power a mobile device, so users could send out a message or phone call in an emergency.’”

Once creators Karl Lee and Bob Panos came up with their idea for the new iPhone case, they contracted the help of a prototyping company. After months of sifting through numerous factories in Shenzhen, selecting the materials for molded parts, locating a suitable lithium ion battery, and designing the electronics circuit board, the team was able to come up with a working prototype that functioned just as they had envisioned. Their only problem is coming up with money to cover manufacturing costs of producing Mipwr by the thousands.

Now, Lee and Panos have decided to crowdfund the manufacturing costs of bringing this innovative product to market. Within the next couple of weeks, the team behind Mipwr will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with the goal of raising $ 78,000 to cover those costs. And, they’re giving iPhone users around the world the opportunity to help bring Mipwr to market. For a pledge of just $ 25, backers will be able to do two things: help Mipwr reach its funding goal and pre-order their very own Mipwr case.
